Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Joe Manchin today released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day:

“Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with the brave men and women who are serving our country in Afghanistan. It was an honor to thank them personally for their service and sacrifice, and on Memorial Day, I urge each and every West Virginian to take the time to think of the courageous men and women deployed overseas, and to thank our service members for their unwavering commitment to this great nation,” Senator Manchin said.

“As your United States Senator, one of my top priorities is ensuring that this country keeps its promises to our veterans.”

Because he believes that this country should ensure that all servicemembers receive the education, housing, medical, and other services they deserve, Senator Manchin’s office has organized eight open meetings across the state next week, to give West Virginia’s military men and women direct access to representatives from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and West Virginia Division of Veterans Affairs.
