WV Strong: Marshall & Huntington Communities

Wayne and Cabell counties

Today’s recognition goes to the Marshall University and Huntington communities. With the 50th Fountain Ceremony last weekend, we paid our respects to the 75 souls we lost in the tragic plane crash.

This community suffered a great loss, and it was due to the tremendous strength of its citizens and leaders that a sense of hope rose from the ashes.  I believe that this unyielding spirit is a true testament to the 75 souls we lost that dreadful night in 1970 – a testament that those members of the Marshall family are not forgotten. Their memories live on as we carry this community’s strength with us each day. Their legacy is one of triumph over tragedy. They are truly West Virginia Strong.
