Partnership between Manchin, the state and Logan County is healthy for southern W.Va. | Logan Banner

The partnership entered into by Gov. Joe Manchin and Logan County officials and business people to build the Chief Logan Rec Center is a model for all other counties in the state to follow.

Logan County is serious about getting healthy. We’re tired of being known as the unhealthiest county in the state.

Manchin, who is now a U.S. Senator, said he’s proud of the Chief Logan Rec Center and its growth and he says everyone should take advantage of such a great facility so that people can enjoy healthier and better lives.

We are glad that Sen. Manchin is keeping track of the progress of the Chief Logan Rec Center. He wants southern West Virginians to get healthy and a good way to start is by joining the Chief Logan Rec Center.

A year-long membership in the Chief Logan Rec Center for a family of four costs about a quarter a day. That’s very cheap compared to rec centers and health clubs in other areas. For that great value, the Chief Logan Rec Center offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an elevated walking track, workout rooms and state-of-the-art exercise equipment and three tennis courts. It also offers several exercise classes including steps, spinning, aerobics, water aerobics and mixed martial arts.

There’s no reason why everyone can’t get healthy in the coalfields, especially not with a great facility like the Chief Logan Rec Center offering so much to put people on track to live healthier, more enjoyable lives.
