Manchin Wishes West Virginians a Happy, Safe Fourth of July

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today issued the following statement to mark America’s Independence Day:

“Every July Fourth, America comes together to celebrate the birth of our great nation and remember the values and truths that our Founding Fathers declared 239 years ago. The United States of America is still the greatest country on Earth and the hope of the world, even with all our challenges and troubles. It is up to us to keep our torch of freedom burning bright for generations to come. This holiday, we should all show our patriotism and pride in being citizens of the greatest country ever known.

“But patriotism also means honoring with those who have defended the liberties we hold so dear. So as you participate in this weekend’s festivities with family and friends, I hope you will take time to thank our veterans and our service members for their loyal service. It is because of their bravery that we are celebrating Independence Day today. I also urge you to offer prayers for members of our armed forces on duty around the world and for their loving families who await their safe return.

“I share the pride all West Virginians feel in America, today and every day, and I wish all of you a very happy and safe Fourth of July. May God bless you and your families, and may He continue to bless the great state of West Virginia and the United States of America.”
