Manchin Statement on New Jobs in West Virginia

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today issued the following statement on the announcement that Bombardier will expand the West Virginia Air Center that provides maintenance services for Bombardier-manufactured commercial aircrafts.

“I am thrilled that Bombardier is continuing to invest in West Virginia. This is great news for the residents of Bridgeport and the entire state of West Virginia. Years of strategic investments, fiscally-responsible policies, and a well-trained, dedicated workforce, have ensured our state remains one of the most business-friendly states in the country.

“While serving as Governor, I worked with the Legislature to lower taxes for businesses and residents alike, while also enhancing West Virginia’s business profile by fixing our workers’ comp system, improving our credit ratings and getting our financial house in order. During my time as United States Senator, I have remained committed to enhancing our job climate so every West Virginian is able to have a good paying job.  I’m proud to have cohosted 14 job fairs to connect companies like Bombardier with West Virginia workers, and will continue this program in the future. I applaud Bombardier for recognizing our state’s aptitude for prosperity and for pursuing this expansion.”
