Manchin Statement on Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin today released the following statement on celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.

“Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and his legacy as of one of the most inspirational and influential figures in our nation’s history. He helped shaped our nation as a courageous leader who brought hope to humanity by peacefully fighting racial injustice and calling for an end to discrimination and segregation. Dr. King dedicated his life to fighting racial injustice and the values of unity, love, and forgiveness he instilled in our society still live on in millions he inspired to make this country a better, stronger, and more peaceful nation. As we commemorate Dr. King’s life, work and legacy on this day, I encourage all West Virginians to reflect on the opportunities we have to improve the lives of others and to take action by dedicating an hour to making a difference in your local community.”
