Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) staff will host three “Building Your Business, Building Our Future” workshops next week to focus on helping small businesses and entrepreneurs hoping to get their start. Senator Manchin’s office will welcome officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the West Virginia Small Business Development Center to meetings in Charleston, Fairmont, and Shepherdstown, where they will make presentations about available resources, answer questions from the local small business community, and gather the commonsense ideas of West Virginians.

“Next week, my staff will be on hand to facilitate meetings across the state to help ensure that your government is taking all the commonsense steps it can to help build small businesses and build West Virginia’s future,” Senator Manchin said. “Small businesses are the engine of our economy, creating and supporting local jobs, bolstering economic activity, and giving back to our communities. With my own small business background, I know the importance of ensuring that government is working as a partner, not an adversary, in helping small firms thrive. I hope that these sessions will be productive and informative, and I encourage all to attend.”

These “Building Your Business, Building Our Future” workshops build off a successful series of meetings that Senator Manchin and his staff have facilitated throughout the state, including the Senator’s “Call for Common Sense” tour in early January, during which he traveled all across West Virginia for two weeks, listening to the commonsense ideas, priorities and concerns of his constituents. In addition, Senator Manchin’s staff has visited all 55 counties through “Commonsense Connections,” during which staff is on-hand to meet with constituents in public locations throughout the state. Senator Manchin’s staff has also facilitated open meetings for the public with officials from the U.S. Postal Service and the Department of Veterans Affairs to help address constituents’ concerns.”
