‘Caring For Your Aging Loved Ones’: Manchin Staff to Host Q-And-A Sessions about Senior Services

In four meetings across the state, officials from WV Bureau of Senior Services will provide information and answer questions about available help

Washington, D.C. – Staff from the office of U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will host four meetings to learn about “Caring for Your Aging Loved Ones” later this month to inform West Virginians of all ages about the services and benefits that are available to their older loved ones.

Senator Manchin’s staff will host representatives from the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services on Tuesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 19 in Berkeley Springs, Logan, Sutton and Weirton to provide basic information and answer specific questions.

“So many people in our state are helping loved ones who have become less independent and require more care, and I know that they have questions about how their government can help meet their needs,” Senator Manchin said. “In two weeks, my staff will host meetings across the state to help answer those questions. I hope that these sessions will be productive and informative, and I encourage all to attend.”

These “Caring for Your Aging Loved Ones” workshops build off a successful series of meetings that Senator Manchin and his staff have hosted, including the Senator’s “Call for Common Sense” tours, during which he has traveled across West Virginia several times, listening to West Virginians’ commonsense ideas, priorities and concerns.

In addition, Senator Manchin’s staff members have visited all 55 counties through “Commonsense Connections,” an opportunity for the people of West Virginia to meet the Senator’s staff in their own communities. The third “Commonsense Connections” week is scheduled to be held Oct. 11 through 14 in every county in the state. Senator Manchin’s staff members have also hosted meetings for the public with officials from the U.S. Postal Service and the Department of Veterans Affairs to help address West Virginians’ concerns and hear their ideas.
