Manchin and Capito Announce $10k for West Virginia Entrepreneurs
Appalachian Regional Commission will support economic development projects in West Virginia
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today announced the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded a total of $10,000 to support the West Virginia University Research Corporation for the TransTech Energy Business Development. Twenty Appalachian enterprises will provide pitch presentations, and one will receive in-depth technical assistance. Overall, four new companies will be formed, $500,000 in leverage private capital will be raised and four new jobs will be created.
“TransTech Energy Business Development provides an opportunity for West Virginia entrepreneurs to connect with investors and partners,” Senator Manchin said. “By connecting West Virginia businesses with the resources they need to succeed we can ensure that our local economy will continue to develop.”
“Supporting our entrepreneurs and innovators in the energy sector is a key component to growing West Virginia’s economy,” Senator Capito said. “Investments like this will provide new businesses with the necessary resources they need to expand their businesses that have the ability to address energy, environmental and economic development challenges. I am thrilled to see this funding heading to WVU, and I look forward to seeing the positive results this will bring to the state.”
