Manchin and Capito Announce $4.5 Million for Head Start in Southern West Virginia
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $4,537,034 for Coalfield Community Action Partnership (CAP) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Funding will support Coalfield CAP’s Head Start program in Mingo and McDowell counties.
“Children in Williamson deserve access to a world class education and Head Start programs help establish a solid education foundation. We know that early childhood education is invaluable for our children as they develop and learn. I’m pleased to see this funding head to Mingo County and I will continue fighting to ensure every child has access to the education they deserve,” Senator Manchin said.
“Education and lifelong learning are essential for future success,” Senator Capito said. “Head Start provides a strong educational foundation for West Virginia children, helping to create opportunities for success throughout their lives. I am thrilled this funding is coming to southern West Virginia and will continue to fight for resources for our children.”
