Manchin and Capito Announce $662K for Parkersburg Senior Living Project
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development office has approved $662,000 to be used for constructing a new senior living facility in Parkersburg. The Newberry Apartments will have 32 units for West Virginia’s senior citizens.
“West Virginia’s seniors helped build our nation and ensuring they are properly cared for later in life is high on our priority list,” said Senator Manchin. “This is great news for Parkersburg and Wood County. I am happy to see this funding head to West Virginia and know the finished facility will be a great addition to the community.”
“The availability of affordable, well-maintained residences is important for many West Virginia seniors to continue living full and productive lives,” Senator Capito said. “This loan will help construct a multi-unit complex in Parkersburg, giving seniors in the area another option when looking for a new place to call home. I will continue to fight for programs that take care of West Virginia seniors.”
