Manchin and Capito Announce More Than $1 Million in Head Start Funding for Raleigh County
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,084,025 for the Raleigh County Community Action Association through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Head Start. Funding will support Early Head Start programs for Raleigh County youth and mothers.
“It’s never too early to start preparing our children for success in the classroom,” Senator Manchin said. “Head Start programs provide quality early childhood education which will equip our children with skills that will positively shape their education for years to come. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to secure funding for Head Start programming so West Virginia’s children can receive the education they deserve.”
“Learning begins in infancy, and getting parents involved in their children’s education early is critical to their future success,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will help parents in southern West Virginia start their children down the path of lifelong learning at an early age. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources that help educate West Virginia’s children.”
