Manchin and Capito Announce More than $3.7 Million for Head Start Programs in West Virginia
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, announced $3,726,345 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to support Head Start services in Beckley, Moorefield and Oceana.
“For our children, education is the key to a bright future and Head Start plays a critical role in ensuring West Virginia’s students are prepared for their future. I’m excited to see this funding head to Beckley, Moorefield and Oceana and will continue to fight for resources for our Head Start programs across West Virginia,” Senator Manchin said.
“Hard work and a good education open the door to endless opportunities,” Senator Capito said. “Head Start helps provide a strong educational foundation for West Virginia children to achieve future success. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for resources that help educate our children and empower them to succeed.”

- $1,074,962 – Eastern Allegheny Council for Human Services Head Start
- $1,231,457 – Raleigh County Community Action Association, Inc.
- $1,419,926 – MountainHeart Community Services, Inc.
