Manchin and Capito Announce Nearly $25 Million for West Virginia Health Clinics
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $24,763,266 to health clinics across West Virginia in twelve different counties, including Mercer, Webster, Kanawha, Monongalia, Upshur, Hardy, Lincoln, Marion, Greenbrier, McDowell, Wirt, and Cabell. The grants are awarded through HHS’s Health Center Cluster Program, which gives funds to community health centers serving rural, underserved communities.
“Rural health centers are essential to making sure West Virginians have access to the quality healthcare they deserve,” Senator Manchin said. “I am pleased to see so many community clinics recognized for the role they play in the lives of so many West Virginians and given funding to continue their tireless efforts. In my role on the Senate Appropriations Committee I will continue advocating for healthcare access for every corner of our state.”
“West Virginia’s community health centers provide important medical services to so many individuals, especially those living in our state’s rural communities. This funding will help them continue offering critical health care services to West Virginians,” Senator Capito said.
