Manchin and Rockefeller Announce Nearly $2.4 Million for West Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller announced $2,370,843 in federal funding for two medical centers in West Virginia to continue operations and improve health care services. The facilities receiving funding are Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center and Preston-Taylor Communities Health Centers.

“It is incredibly important that all West Virginians, including those living in rural communities, have access to quality preventative and primary health care,” Senator Manchin said. “With this funding, our health centers will be able to make necessary upgrades and improvements in order to provide the affordable and accessible health services that all West Virginia families deserve.”

“Providing our community health centers with the funding necessary to meet their mission is critical to making sure that thousands of West Virginians, especially in the most rural corners of our state, can access important primary and preventive health care services,” Rockefeller said. “This particular grant will give Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center and Preston-Taylor Community Health Centers the ability to make improvements to their facilities and continue providing the care that so many West Virginians rely on.”

The Health Center Cluster grant provides financial assistance to health centers that offer primary and preventive health care services to underserved or rural areas. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Federal Assistance Management.

The individual award amounts are:

• Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center: $ 1,151,464
• Preston-Taylor Community Health Centers: $1,219,379
