Manchin Announces $1 Million From American Rescue Plan For Head Start Programs

Charleston, WV– Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $1,012,239 for the AFL-CIO Appalachian Council Head Start Emergency Supplemental Fund. This funding is from the American Rescue Plan and will help support early childhood education in West Virginia.

“The American Rescue Plan has supported West Virginians in many different ways during the COVD-19 pandemic, including providing our youngest West Virginians with a quality education. Unfortunately, during the pandemic many young children have fallen behind in their early education,” said Senator Manchin. “I am pleased HHS is making additional investments in West Virginia Head Start programs to help classrooms provide children with the skills, resources and strong foundation they need to succeed and keep students, teachers and faculty safe as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. I will continue to advocate for funding and resources to ensure every West Virginia child has the educational opportunities they deserve to support a bright future.”
