Manchin Announces 298k For Two West Virginia Fire Departments
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $298,303 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program (AFGP). This funding will bolster safety measures and support first responder preparedness in Lake and Leon.
“Every day our courageous West Virginia firefighters put their lives in danger to ensure the safety of our communities,” said Senator Manchin. “I’m pleased that FEMA is investing more than $298K into two of our local fire stations to help keep them safe and enhance their preparedness. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee I will continue to advocate for funding to support our first responders across the Mountain State.”
The AFGP strives to enhance firefighter safety and public safety as it relates to fire hazards. AFGP awards provide critically-needed resources that equip and train emergency personnel to meet recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, foster first responder interoperability and support community resilience.
