Manchin Announces $613K for Two Research Projects at West Virginia University
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, member of the
U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $613,603 from the National
Science Foundation (NSF) for two research projects at West Virginia University
(WVU). The funding will support critical research into using artificial
intelligence (AI) technology to determine optimal treatment options for cancer
patients and investigating public perception of the U.S. Supreme Court.
“West Virginia University continues to make our state proud with
important research projects,” said Senator Manchin. “I’m pleased the
National Science Foundation is supporting our hardworking students, faculty and
staff involved with these two critical initiatives, which will help optimize
cancer patient treatment options through innovative AI technology, as well as
investigate public trust in the Supreme Court. As a member of the Senate
Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to support
research projects across the Mountain State.”
Individual awards listed below:
- $549,994 – West Virginia University
- This funding will support critical research into using innovative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to determine optimal treatment options for cancer patients.
- $63,609 – West Virginia University
- This funding will support survey research into public trust in the U.S. Supreme Court, particularly among minority citizens.
