Manchin Announces $6.3 Million to Boost Transportation Safety in West Virginia
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $6,395,381 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the West Virginia Department of Transportation. The funding is made possible through the State Electronic Data Collection grant program and will support upgrading and improving crash data systems to inform transportation safety strategies.
“I’m pleased that DOT is investing nearly $6.4 million to upgrade West Virginia’s transportation data collection systems and enhance road safety,” said Senator Manchin. “Improving and modernizing our roads, bridges and highways to keep West Virginians and our visitors safe continues to be one of my top priorities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I have always advocated for resources to bolster transportation systems across the Mountain State.”
