Manchin Announces Permanent Health Clinic for Veterans in Mercer County

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin today announced that Mercer County’s mobile health clinic, which served as an extension of the Beckley VA Medical Center, will become a permanent VA clinic in Princeton to help the growing number of veterans in the area access primary care and telehealth services. The Princeton VA Clinic is expected to open by this summer and will have the capacity to serve a total of 1,200 eligible veterans.

“As the number of veterans continues to grow in southern West Virginia, it is wonderful to announce that our veterans residing in Mercer County and around the region will finally have permanent access to the healthcare services they need. I’d also be remiss if I did not personally thank a very special veteran, Al Hancock, for tirelessly working toward this goal for nearly two decades. Al has spent his life serving our country: he’s a retired Air Force veteran who served two tours to Vietnam, and he is also a retired schoolteacher. I applaud Al, the VA, and all those who have worked so hard to bring this much-needed medical access to the local community.”

The Princeton VA Clinic will be located at 1511 North Walker Street in Princeton, West Virginia. Senator Manchin worked with the VA, the Beckley VA Medical Center, and local veterans throughout the VA clinic’s approval process, and currently serves as a member on the Senate Veterans Affairs’ Committee.
