Manchin Announces Third ‘Commonsense Connections’ Week: 'Your Government, Your Voice'
Following success of ‘Commonsense Connections’ weeks in February and May, Manchin staff will again visit all 55 counties across West Virginia to meet with constituents about their commonsense ideas, priorities and concerns
Washington, D.C. – In keeping with his philosophy of retail government, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced that his office will launch its third “Commonsense Connections” Week – “Your Government, Your Voice” – beginning Tuesday, October 11. Representatives from Senator Manchin’s office will travel to every county in West Virginia to meet with constituents and hear their commonsense priorities and concerns, as well as their ideas for how to cut spending, reform government, and create jobs. Senator Manchin plans to share these suggestions with the members of the deficit reduction super committee.
Senator Manchin launched his first-ever “Commonsense Connections” Week in February, when representatives from his office traveled to all 55 counties in the state. In May, the staff hosted “Commonsense Connections” Week for the second time, once again visiting all 55 counties.
“The feedback I get when my staff visits every county in the state is so valuable as I represent our great state in the nation’s capital,” Senator Manchin said. “This is your government, and I want to make sure all West Virginians have an opportunity to make their voices heard. These ‘Commonsense Connections’ weeks already have been unbelievably successful, and we will continue to build off that success. By criss-crossing the state, my staff gets an opportunity to meet West Virginians one-on-one and listen to their commonsense ideas, priorities and concerns.”
Senator Manchin believes it is important to make his staff available so that West Virginians can make suggestions on how to rebuild America and get help with any federal problems that they may have. This third “Commonsense Connections” Week also serves as a follow up to Senator Manchin’s Rebuilding America tour in August, when he traveled to more than 22 counties to speak directly with West Virginians about the need to invest in this country and make America strong.
