Manchin Applauds President Trump for Signing Right to Try Bill
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) applauded President Trump for signing the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act, which will give terminally ill patients the right try experimental treatments.
“I applaud President Trump for signing the bipartisan Right to Try Act to expand pathways to treatment for critically ill patients while also implementing safeguards through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that ensure patient protections. I was proud to cosponsor this bill because our country is leading the world in medical innovation but the approval process is often long, slow and covered in red tape. Every day, millions of Americans and their families are not only fighting terminal illnesses, but they are also fighting medical regulations and processes. While I’m glad our country does its due diligence in approving medications and procedures to make sure they are safe, patients fighting terminal illness don’t have time to wait. I’m glad these patients and their families will now be able to use groundbreaking medicine to fight their terminal illness.”
