Manchin, Capito Announce $1.2 Million For Maternal And Child Health Services
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,221,801 for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to support maternal and child health services in West Virginia. This funding is made available by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“West Virginia mothers and children deserve to have accessible, affordable health services no matter where they live in our state. This funding will help the West Virginia DHHR ensure that our children, infants, and mothers have the help they need during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am pleased that West Virginia is receiving this funding and will continue to fight for programs that support our families here in the Mountain State,” said Senator Manchin.
“Ensuring that our mothers, infants, and young families have access to the proper health resources they need is incredibly important, especially as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Senator Capito. “With increased reliance and responsibility within our state health departments, it is crucial that we provide the appropriate level of support so that West Virginians can continue to receive the services they rely on regularly. I am thankful that HHS has recognized the need for this support and will continue to advocate for the women and children of our state.”
