Manchin, Capito Announce $1.3 Million for Maternal, Child Healthcare Services in West Virginia
Charleston,
WV – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV),
members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $1,311,968 from the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and
Services Administration (HRSA) for the West Virginia Department of Health and
Human Resources (DHHR). The funding will be used to strengthen maternal and
child healthcare services in West Virginia.
“All West
Virginians deserve to have access to the healthcare services they need, no
matter where they live,” said Senator Manchin. “Quality, affordable
healthcare is vital for our mothers, children and families, and I’m pleased HHS
is investing more than $1.3 million in the West Virginia DHHR to bolster
maternal and child healthcare services across the state. As a member of the
Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to
ensure our mothers and children across the Mountain State have access to the
care they need to lead safe, healthy lives.”
“It
is important that health care services are available for our mothers and
children, no matter where they live. Programs like this one are critical for
our families, and help strengthen our efforts to protect the health and
wellbeing of mothers and their children in West Virginia. I have consistently
advocated for this kind of support, and I look forward to the positive impact
this funding will have,” Senator Capito said.
