Manchin, Capito Announce $1.9 Million For Airport Improvement Projects In West Virginia
Charleston,
WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members
of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,953,098 from the
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for two airport improvement projects in
Martinsburg and Morgantown.
“West
Virginia airports are critical to our state economy. They open the door for
tourists to visit our wild and wonderful state and provide hubs for manufacturers
and other businesses. As a pilot myself, I know how important maintenance and
upgrades are for airport facilities, and I am pleased DOT is investing in
runway projects at the Morgantown and Martinsburg airports. I am committed to
renovating and updating West Virginia’s airports, and my bipartisan
infrastructure bill that recently passed the Senate will deliver historic
infrastructure investments for the state,” said Senator Manchin.
“West Virginia’s airports play a key role in growing
our local economy,” Senator Capito said. “It’s important we make
the necessary investments to help improve, repair, and expand the capacity of
our regional airports. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I’ll
continue working to secure funding to support our airports so more and more
travelers can see all that our state has to offer.”
