Manchin, Capito Announce $376K For Health Centers Across West Virginia
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $376,094 through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support health centers’ and health center look-alikes’ COVID-19 response and testing efforts in West Virginia. This funding was made available through the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on April 24, 2020.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our communities across West Virginia, we must support our health centers, healthcare professionals, lab workers, and front line workers who are caring for their fellow West Virginians around the clock. This funding will help support health center look-alikes to purchase, administer, and expand capacity for testing. This fight is far from over and as we work on more federal COVID-19 relief funding, I will keep advocating for funding that helps rural states like West Virginia respond to this crisis,” said Senator Manchin.
“All of our health centers in West Virginia play such important roles in their communities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our brave medical professionals have stepped up to the front lines and continue to provide critical care and testing efforts for the people of our state. We must continue to provide the resources they need to test West Virginians for COVID-19. Efforts like this will help keep our communities safe.
