Manchin, Capito Announce $545K For Save Drinking Water In West Virginia
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $545,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to implement a state public water system supervision program.
“Every West Virginian deserves clean water to drink and air to breathe, no matter where they live in our great state,” said Senator Manchin. “This funding from the EPA will help West Virginia create a program to ensure that our public water systems are providing West Virginians with clean drinking water and help set a standard across the state for drinking water regulations. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding that helps our people have healthy lives here in the Mountain State.”
“All West Virginians deserve access to water that is clean and free of pollutants. Creating a supervision system in accordance with National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act helps protect West Virginians’ sources of drinking water. As chairman of the Senate Environment and Public (EPW) Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, I’m committed to working to improve West Virginians’ water infrastructure. I will continue to advocate for funding that protects our water quality,” said Senator Capito.
