Manchin, Capito Announce $99K For West Virginia Airports
Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $99,162 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for three airports across West Virginia.
“West Virginia airports are hubs for economic development and provide visitors and tourists with access to our beautiful state. The aerospace and tourism industries have been hit especially hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this funding from DOT is welcome news. These investments in regional airports across West Virginia will help keep passengers and personnel safe and boost our state and regional economies. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and a pilot myself, I will continue to advocate for funding and resources to support airports in the Mountain State,” said Senator Manchin.
“When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, our airports faced major losses due to lack of travel demand. That’s why I made it one of my priorities to provide resources to get our airports through the pandemic, while also helping them come our stronger on the other side. I’m encouraged to see this support continue for our airports, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have,” Senator Capito said.
