Manchin, Capito Announce Additional Funding For Storm Recovery
Washington D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced additional funding of $800,000 for a Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant (DWG) awarded to Workforce West Virginia in response to severe storms in February 2018. This additional funding brings the total DWG funds awarded for this project to $1,633,325. Funding is provided by the Department of Labor (DOL).
“We in West Virginia understand the major impacts of natural disasters and the effects they can have on our workers. I am proud to see this funding for West Virginians and look forward to seeing the results of such an impactful organization. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for West Virginia workers,” Senator Manchin said.
“West Virginians are acutely aware that working to rebuild our communities after natural disasters can be costly and time-intensive,” Senator Capito said. “Every bit of support helps. I’m pleased to see this funding go to Workforce West Virginia, which is on the frontlines of cleanup and mitigation, and I appreciated the continued support of the Department of Labor.”
