Manchin, Capito Announce Coalfield Development Corporation Grant
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that Coalfield Development Corporation in Wayne, West Virginia, will receive approximately $200,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Brownfields Job Training Program. Funding was made possible by the bipartisan infrastructure law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“Addressing and utilizing brownfield sites across West Virginia is vital to rebuilding our communities and growing our economy. I am pleased this funding from my bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will support the Coalfield Development Corporation which provides critical job training programs in the Mountain State. Ensuring our workforce is prepared and trained to clean up Brownfields sites will help protect the health and wellbeing of our impacted communities, and I will continue advocating for funding to support these efforts,” Senator Manchin said.
“Coalfield Development Corporation does outstanding workforce training in southern West Virginia. Their programs have boosted the local economy and saved lives,” Senator Capito said. “Central to the bipartisan infrastructure law is jobs, and today’s EPA investment will help Coalfield continue their work of bringing more people into steady, quality jobs that help clean up our environment.”
