Manchin, Capito Announce Drinking Water Protection Project In West Virginia
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $18,300 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support the implementation of an Underground Injection Control Program in West Virginia. This project will ensure that sources of drinking water are protected from underground injection activities.
“Every West Virginian deserves to have clean water to drink and clean air to breathe and this funding will help keep our underground water resources protected. I will continue to advocate for funding that helps West Virginia keep our water safe for all West Virginians,” said Senator Manchin.
“West Virginians deserve reliable infrastructure that protects access to clean water. Improvements to West Virginia’s water infrastructure are a major priority of mine through my work as Chairman of the EPW Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure,” said Senator Capito. “Programs such as this will help the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection catalog underground injection activity, creating a higher level of accountability within our state and preserving our water quality.”
