Manchin, Capito Announce Funding For Marshall University

Washington DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,499,410 from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to Marshall University Research Corporation to fund projects that invest in education, training, and career support services in the Appalachian region.

“West Virginians are some of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet, we just need the opportunity to prove ourselves. Marshall University provides career services, education and training to ensure our workforce is prepared to compete for good-paying jobs across the state,” Senator Manchin said. “This important investment will boost those efforts by opening doors for West Virginians, and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts on our workforce. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to invest in programs that support West Virginia’s workforce and help provide opportunities for the Mountain State to thrive.”

The grant funding will provide services to dislocated workers, new entrants to the workforce, including students or the long-term unemployed, incumbent workers looking to improve their career prospects, and individuals affected by substance use.
