Manchin, Capito Announce Funding For Telehealth, Online Education

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced two grants totaling $437,436 to support telehealth and distance learning projects. Funding is provided by the Department of Agriculture (USDA).

“Rural communities like those across West Virginia have unique challenges when it comes to accessing education and healthcare services. We must do everything we can to make sure all West Virginians have the resources they need,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will help West Virginia bridge that gap and provide quality education and healthcare services to even the most rural West Virginians through telehealth services. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for funding that benefits our children and all West Virginians.”

“West Virginians, particularly those who live in our smaller communities, often find themselves far removed from critical services. This USDA grant money will address two issues exacerbated by that geographical isolation: education and access to medical services. I’m glad to see efforts to employ new technologies to correct these inequities for rural West Virginians,” Senator Capito said.

  • $206,000 - Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation
