Manchin, Capito Announce Funding For West Virginia Health Centers
Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $783,170 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for two West Virginia health centers. This funding is made available through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)’s Capital Assistance for Disaster Response and Recovery Efforts (CADRE) program.
“Our health centers continue to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and care for our fellow West Virginians affected by this terrible virus. Many health centers in West Virginia run on shoestring budgets, and they need help right now. I am pleased HRSA is investing in two of our health centers that provide essential healthcare services to West Virginians, no matter where they live or their circumstances, but we need more dedicated funding for rural healthcare providers during this crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and I won’t stop fighting for rural healthcare providers to get their fair share of COVID-19 relief funds as we work to address this crisis,” said Senator Manchin.
“Health centers deliver critical services to keep our West Virginians and communities healthy, especially as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Senator Capito. “Making sure that our medical professionals have the resources they need to do their jobs effectivity and keep our communities safe is a crucial part of our recovery efforts. I will continue to fight for additional funding that supports our health centers and keeps them accessible and prepared.”
