Manchin, Capito Announce Funding from USDA Water and Waste Disposal Program

Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced a $1,460,000 loan and a $513,000 grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Water and Waste Disposal Program. This funding will be used to support water and waste water infrastructure projects for two public service districts in West Virginia.

“Investing in West Virginia’s rural communities and water and wastewater infrastructure will bring clean drinking water, good-paying jobs, economic growth and benefit the entire state. I am pleased USDA is supporting projects at the Monumental Public Service District to replace waterlines and Hardy County Public Service District to replace facilities previously damaged by flooding. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for funding to support our rural communities across the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.

 

“Ensuring reliable water and wastewater infrastructure is a fundamental responsibility of government. Rural development investments help create the foundation our communities need to grow, while setting them on a path towards further economic development,” Senator Capito said. “Support for projects like these is a key focus of my work as Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee because of the positive impact they can have in West Virginia. I will continue to use my role to support initiatives like this that strengthen the infrastructure of our state.”

 

·      Water and Waste Disposal Loan Program:

o   $1,460,000 – Hardy County Public Service District: This Rural Development investment will be used to help Hardy County Public Service District construct a facility that will house the main office and maintenance shop.

 

·      Water and Waste Disposal Grant Program:

o   $513,000 – Monumental Public Service District: This Rural Development investment will be used to help Monumental Public Service District replace waterlines in areas along Finch Run, Moody Run, Davy Run, Gilboa Road, Paw Paw Creek, Laurel Run, Bethel Run, Little Dunkard Mill, and several shorter sidelines.
