Manchin, Capito Announce HHS Grants for West Virginia University, Marshall University
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today
announced $1,180,928 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS) to West Virginia University (WVU) and Marshall University.
“All West Virginians deserve to access to quality, affordable healthcare, no matter where they live,” Senator Manchin said. “I’m pleased HHS is investing in WVU and Marshall University to strengthen medical research initiatives and expand physician assistant services in our rural communities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to support healthcare services and research across the Mountain State.”

initiatives and bolster primary care training,” Senator Capito said.
“The research and medical training happening at our higher education
institutions in West Virginia is second to none, and I will continue to

- $521,448 – Clinical Research Related to Neurological Disorders: West Virginia University
- $313,466 – Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research: Marshall University
- $219,000 – Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research: West Virginia University
- $127,014 – Primary Care Training and Enhancement: Physician Assistant Rural Training Program: West Virginia University
