MANCHIN, CAPITO ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $7.4 MILLION FOR HEAD START

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announce $7,425,177 for Head Start programs in West Virginia through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This funding will provide support for education and career advancement in Braxton County and North Central West Virginia.

“West Virginia’s future is in the hands of our youngest citizens, and in order for them to succeed, access to an early education is essential, no matter where the student lives. Throughout West Virginia, Head Start programs have continued to help provide this education to our children and it makes me proud to help further develop each program in order to create fair and equal opportunities for all West Virginians. As a member of the U.S. Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for future projects and programs that will benefit all individuals throughout our great state,” said Senator Manchin.

“Head Start programs have made a difference for thousands of children throughout West Virginia. This program works to ensure our kids are better prepared as they enter elementary school, setting a solid foundation for their education future. I’m pleased to see this funding come to our state and will continue to support Head Start and our students,” said Senator Capito.
