Manchin, Capito Announce More Than $866K For Flood Recovery
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today announced $866,675 from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) through the Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant Program for flood recovery in West Virginia.
“West Virginia was hit by flooding in February 2018 that destroyed homes, displaced many West Virginians from their jobs, and caused over $22 million in public infrastructure damage. But these floods made West Virginia come together to support one another in the middle of a tragedy, and it was incredible to see the kindness and hope West Virginians gave one another. While our communities are still recovering from these disasters, this funding will help workers find jobs and expand their experience so that they can get back to work and give back to their communities. I will continue to fight for West Virginia to receive funding so that we can fully recover from these terrible floods,” said Senator Manchin.
“An important part of making sure individuals and communities are able to fully recover from recent storms is making sure our workers have the tools necessary to get back on their feet,” Senator Capito said. “This grant from the Department of Labor provides Workforce West Virginia with this needed relief to rebuild, and further demonstrates the Department’s commitment to making sure West Virginia workers succeed in the wake of disaster recovery.”
