Manchin, Capito Announce Over $2 Million For Weirton Health Center
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has given $2,115,193 to CHANGE, Inc., a community action and health agency that provides a variety of health, transportation, housing, and emergency services to Weirton and the surrounding area of West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle. In 2018, CHANGE was able to provide services to 27,452 West Virginians in the area.
“I strongly believe that every West Virginian deserves easy access to quality healthcare. Community health centers like CHANGE are on the front lines in our communities, helping to make sure that when the great people of our state are sick or have an emergency, they get the help they need. I applaud HHS for partnering with CHANGE, Inc. and other organizations like it, in rural areas of our state,” said Senator Manchin.
“Community health centers are a vital component of West Virginia’s health care system,” Senator Capito said. “Together with other programs and facilities, they ensure that West Virginians have access to quality health care regardless of where they live. I am thrilled to see this funding come to our state, and I will continue to fight for programs that help keep West Virginians healthy.”
