Manchin, Capito Announce Over $3 Million For Kanawha County Head Start

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $3,343,985 for the Kanawha County Board of Education from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This funding will support Head Start programs in Kanawha County.

“Education is an essential part of our children’s lives and will ensure a brighter future for generations to come. Head Start gives children an opportunity to learn and grow in the classroom, regardless of their financial situation. Through programs like Head Start, children can gain essential skills and knowledge that are needed to be successful throughout their education. I have been a proud supporter of Head Start programs and truly appreciate the work and dedication these programs show to our students. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am proud to help fund Head Start programs across West Virginia and will continue to bring more opportunities to West Virginia so that we can support our students and better our education system,” said Senator Manchin.

“Head Start helps ensure West Virginia children have a strong educational foundation so able to succeed when they enter grade school. Our children deserve the very best education—not only for their personal sakes, but also for the future of West Virginia. I’m glad to see this funding come to Kanawha County, and I am proud to be on the Appropriations Committee where I can continue to advocate for educational programs like Head Start that make a difference in young lives,” said Senator Capito.
