Manchin, Capito Announce Funding for Cancer Detection, Diagnosis at West Virginia University
Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $361,000 through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for cancer detection and diagnosis research at West Virginia University (WVU).
“West Virginia University continues to lead the nation in groundbreaking research, and I am pleased HHS is investing in cancer research and diagnosis at WVU. I look forward to seeing the results of this important research that will help detect cancer earlier and improve treatments. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocating for funding to support research conducted here in the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.
“WVU has established itself as a leader in research capabilities, and provides critical health services to people across our state,” Senator Capito said. “It’s important that resources remain available to our medical professionals and students so they can continue expanding their skills and capabilities regarding cancer detection and diagnosis. I’m proud to help make this announcement today, and I look forward to continued medical progress being made in Morgantown."
