Manchin Congratulates Clarksburg VA on Hiring 10 New Mental Health Professionals
Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center hired new mental health professionals to expand access to health care and outreach efforts
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today congratulated the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg for hiring ten new mental health professionals to help expand access to health care for veterans, service members and their families.
“I have talked to so many of our Veterans, who tell me that we need to do more to expand mental health care,” Senator Manchin said. “I congratulate the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center for taking a step in the right direction and hiring ten new mental health professionals. Our veterans and active duty members have risked their lives so that we can continue to enjoy our freedoms every day, so the very least we can do is make sure they receive the treatment, counseling and health services they need when they come home.”
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that it has hired more than 1,600 new mental health professionals across the United States in order to improve access to mental health services for veterans, servicemembers and their families. In addition, the VA has hired 2,005 mental health clinical providers to fill existing vacancies.
