Manchin Encourages West Virginians to Apply for USDA Broadband Loan Program
Washington, D.C. – Senator Manchin is urging communities across West Virginia to apply for support under the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee Program. The program provides loans to projects aiming to extend broadband infrastructure in eligible rural communities. USDA has supported broadband infrastructure projects through this program since it was created in the 2002 Farm Bill and reauthorized under the 2014 Farm Bill; it plans to make more than $100 million available through the program. Loan applications ranging from $100,000 to $25 million will be processed on a first come, first served basis and applications are due September 30, 2018.
“The Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee Program is an important program to help rural communities across West Virginia gain additional resources to build out reliable broadband. We all know that in 2018, access to reliable, high-speed internet is a requirement in order to succeed in our ever-changing economy. I encourage rural communities throughout our state to take advantage of this helpful program,” Senator Manchin said.
