Manchin Hears From The Alliance For The Economic Development Of Southern West Virginia Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) participated in a call with the Alliance for the Economic Development of Southern West Virginia and other educational partners to hear their concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“West Virginia’s students are dealing with the sudden effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and have had to quickly adapt to new learning situations. Today I spoke with the Alliance and other educational partners, listened to their concerns and answered questions about support available for students and higher education institutions. We must do everything possible to ensure that our students have the help they need during these difficult times,” Senator Manchin said.
“The Alliance’s 40-TOP Virtual Roundtable Series has proven to be an important outlet for West Virginians to connect, learn and discuss real West Virginia solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Alliance’s Operations Chair and Associate VP for External Engagement Sara Payne Scarbro said. “Senator Manchin is always so accessible, and we sincerely appreciate the Senator giving us an overview of the CARES Act and answering our questions about higher education resources.”
Over the last month, Senator Manchin has participated in calls with West Virginians representing the healthcare, banking, press, law enforcement, local government, education and business communities.
