Manchin Hears From West Virginia Architects Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)
participated in a call with the West Virginia American Institute of Architects
to hear their concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“West Virginia’s small businesses are the backbone of our
economy and they are getting hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. We must
prioritize supporting our small businesses, employees, and owners so they can
stay afloat during these difficult times. I fought hard to include funding in
the third coronavirus emergency funding package to make sure that our small
businesses, like many of our architects in West Virginia, had the support they
need. I will continue to advocate for West Virginians so they all have access
to the care and backing they need during this pandemic,” said Senator
Manchin.
“The majority of architects in West Virginia own or work at
small businesses which are being hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. We
appreciate Senator Manchin’s work to include funding for small businesses in
the third federal funding package which benefits West Virginia small businesses
and workers. We are grateful for Senator Manchin’s leadership and his
willingness to answer our questions during this crisis,” said Matt Breakey, President
of the West Virginia American Institute of Architects.
Senator Manchin has participated
in calls with the West Virginia Press Association, West Virginia Association of Counties,
West Virginia Municipal Leagues, West Virginia County Commissioners, West
Virginia Sheriffs, West Virginia Economic Development Council, West Virginia
Manufacturers Association, West Virginia American Federation of Teachers, West
Virginia Hospital Association, West Virginia Medical Association, West
Virginia Primary Care Association, West Virginia
Nursing Association, West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and West Virginia
Directors for Senior and Community Services. In the coming days, he will
continue to schedule opportunities to hear directly from West Virginians about
how the ongoing pandemic is impacting their lives, businesses and communities.
