Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will start the second week of his “Fighting for Every Job” tour tomorrow with an event at a Wheeling gas station to outline his plan to lower gas prices. During the tour, Senator Manchin is highlighting the connection between jobs and energy independence, his agenda to help small businesses succeed, how to revitalize American manufacturing, the importance of training the workforce through higher education, and his growing effort to hire unemployed veterans.
“Everyone feels the pain when gas prices are sky high, but in West Virginia – where we have to drive to survive – high gas prices are taking a huge toll on our families, our businesses, and our way of life,” Senator Manchin said. “There are many steps we need to take – both right now and down the road – to lower prices and use our own domestic resources to create American jobs. We need to do all we can to help this country achieve energy independence, and that's why I'm outlining commonsense steps this country can take.”
Later in the week, Senator Manchin will hold “Coffee and Common Sense” events in Beckley and Ravenswood to have a conversation with residents about their commonsense ideas, concerns and priorities. He will also visit businesses in Wood County and play in the Kenneth “Honey” Rubenstein Charity Basketball Event in Davis.
