Manchin Pushes VA Secretary Shulkin on Clarksburg VA Autoclave Again
Washington, D.C. – During today’s Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) questioned U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin about the lack of a permanent autoclave at the VA hospital in Clarksburg. At a hearing in January, Senator Manchin made Secretary Shulkin aware that the autoclave at Clarksburg was not working.
“We have a temporary, mobile autoclave at the Clarksburg VA and we don’t have any idea when a permanent autoclave is going to be there,” Senator Manchin said. “They said because of money problems that they’re just not sure. For the sake of the patients and the sake of the hospital, we need something permanent and in a timely manner.”
