Manchin, Rockefeller Announce Significant Funding for Health Centers Across West Virginia
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller today announced more than $997,600 in federal grant funding for four community health centers across West Virginia. The funds will help support efforts aimed at coordinating patient health care through patient-centered medical homes.
“Our West Virginia families and children all across our state, including our most rural communities, deserve to have access to the best quality healthcare services,” Manchin said. “These grants will help make much needed upgrades and improvements to our health centers so that our West Virginia health care professionals can provide top-of-the-line service and care to all of our residents.”
“In our rural communities, patient-centered medical homes have become a great resource for our health centers in their work to improve access to care and health outcomes in underserved areas,” Rockefeller said. “This investment in several health centers across West Virginia will provide additional resources for medical homes and their important work to coordinate patient care and educate patients on how to be an active partner in their care. Supporting the work of health centers is critical to maintaining and improving the health of all West Virginians.”
The funding was awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and made available through the Affordable Care Act.
The individual award amounts are:
• $250,000 – Community Care of West Virginia – Rock Cave, W.Va.
• $247,675 – Monongahela Valley Association of Health Centers – Fairmont, W.Va.
• $250,000 – Valley Health Care – Mill Creek, W.Va.
• $250,000 – Womencare – Scott Depot, W.Va.
