Manchin Statement on Fatal Shooting of Deputy U.S. Marshal in West Virginia

Washington, D.C. — United States Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today released the following statement after the tragic shooting of a Deputy U.S. Marshal in West Virginia.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the Deputy U.S. Marshal who today lost his life in West Virginia while honorably serving our state and this nation,” Manchin said. “The loss of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty is a stark reminder of the incredible bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who take on this dangerous line of work to keep their fellow citizens safe. This is a time to remember the countless sacrifices made by our men and women in law enforcement, and to thank them and their families for all that they do. I am praying for the two deputy U.S. Marshals who were also wounded today, for the deputy we lost, and for all of their loved ones.”
