Manchin Statement on Huff Confirmation to Lead DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement after the Senate voted 80-11 to confirm Dr. Kathryn Huff to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Energy.

“I congratulate Dr. Huff on her confirmation to lead the Office of Nuclear Energy and am thankful for her willingness to serve in this important position. During her confirmation hearing, she clearly demonstrated that she has the knowledge and extensive experience needed to tackle the nuclear issues facing the country today. She advanced out of the Energy Committee with unanimous support, and I am pleased she received strong bipartisan support today. I was happy to support her nomination and look forward to working with her to strengthen our energy security and ensure America remains a global energy leader.”
